Armstrong & Kaye

It’s often noted that the trumpet is the most demanding of wind instruments to play. No one played the trumpet louder or more powerful than Louis Armsrtong. He changed the way musicians would play by popularizing the solo playing and improvised soloing. Like many Jazz musicians, Louis comes from New Orleans- a part so bad it was often referred to as the “battlefield.”
In later years Armstrong would become a great singer utilizing his voice as if it were an instrument. This clip is one my future mother-in-law sent me of Louis performing with entertainer Danny Kaye (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty). Enjoy.
